AbstractThe purpose of the present study was to adapt the Risk Taking Questionnaire of Peter Shepherd (1997), for its use with Bangla speaking people of Bangladesh. For this purpose the original version of the Risk Taking Questionnaire was translated into Bangla. The Sample consisted of 200 subjects and it was administered on the late adolescence (Age range 17-22). Then, reliability, t-test and criterion related validity were computed. Reliability of the Bangla version of the Questionnaire was tested by applying test-retest reliability coefficient form and Spearman-Brown split-half reliability coefficient method. The reliability coefficient in both techniques was found to be 0.89 and 0.79 significant at .01 level. The reliability co-efficient between English-Bangla version was (r=.85) significant at.01 level. The obtained result, high correlation coefficients proved that Bangla version of the risk taking questionnaire was definitely a dependable tool for identifying risk of the individual of Bangla language and cultural aspects.
