AbstractBiological activities of methanolic extracts of Carica papaya (leaves, stem and root) was screened for potential antimicrobial assay, cytotoxic assay and antioxidant activity through DPPH (1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl). In case of C. papaya leaf extract showed the highest diameter of inhibition zone (average16 mm) at the dose of 150µg/disc against Escherichia coli and RVM respectively. On the other hand stem and root extract of C. papaya did not show any significant result against out of five tested bacteria (RVM, RCA, Pseudomonas sp., Escherichia coli and Acetobacter sp.). Again out of six fungi (Phytopthora sp., Penicilliun notatum, Aspergillus niger, Rhizopus sp., Colletotrichum sp. and Fusarium sp.) leaf, stem and root extract of C. papaya showed the remarkable diameter of inhibition zone against Phytopthora sp., Penicilliun notatum and Colletotrichum sp. at the dose of 150µg/disc. Fusarium sp. and Rhizopus sp. showed complete resistant to all type of sample extracts. Antioxidant and cytotoxic potentiality of methanolic extracts from leaf, stem and root of C. papaya at different concentration were compared and assessed by DPPH free-radical scavenging assay and brine shrimp lethality assay. Leaf, stem and root extract of C. papaya showed 50% scavenging of DPPH at the concentration of 112, 114 and 139µg/ml respectively. Again leaf, stem and root extract of C. papaya showed 50% toxicity to aquatic organism (A. salina) at the concentration of 112.34, 217.91 and 264.58µg/ml respectively.
