AbstractThis study was conducted on the nursing, rearing practices, and induced breeding of native and Vietnamese koi (Anabas testudineus) in freshwater farm from February to September 2021 in RaninagarUpazilla, Naogaon. In this study 100 brood fish were selected for breeding, where the weights of female fish are 3-4 kg/25 pcs. Weights of male fishes are 1.5 kg/25 pcs. After inducing pG hormone, both males and females were shifting to breeding tank in a 1:1 ratio. Fry in the nursery ponds were fed with hatchery fed (powder) at the rate of 40-50% of the total body weight. Fingerlings in the rearing ponds were fed with koi starter and koi grower fed at the rate of 15-20% of their total body weight. In induced breeding, male and female ratio was 1:1. The females received a single injection of 6-8 mg PG/kg body weight, and the males were given 2-3 mg PG/kg body weight. The water temperature in the culture pond ranged from 31.01 to 35.5°c in the nursing and rearing pond. The value of dissolved Oxygen (DO) ranged from 6.20 to 4.8 mg/L, and pH ranged from 7.1 to 8.01, respectively. Native and Vietnamese koi are flourishing with protein 18.05% and 20.22%, Lipids were 11.28% in Vietnemese koi and 8.64% in native koi. Carbohydrate content ranges from 1.6-2.2%. Also minerals iron was (9.87-10.25 mg/100 gm), calcium (222.55-356.98 mg/100 gm), lead (34.76-32.126 mg/100gm) were detected. Protein and lipid are significantly higher in Vietnamese koi. This study suggested that both varities are similar in nutritional value. Therefore, it could be cencluded that the nursery and rearing of native and Vietnamese koi using antificial feed in ponds is potentially and economically feasible.
