GERIATRIC DEPRESSION OF OLD HOME PEOPLE IN CONNECTION WITH GENDER, RESIDENCE AND LIVING ARRANGEMENT

Abstract

The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of gender, residence and living arrangement on geriatric depression. Three hundred and thirty geriatric people (165 men and 165omen) were selected by using purposive sampling technique from Rajshahi and Gazipur district of Bangladesh. Geriatric Depression Scale (Brink et al. 1982) was translated into Bangla (Hafiz, Sabina, & Siddique, 2019) and used to collect data of the present study. Obtained data were analyzed by employing t-test and one way ANOVA. Results indicated that geriatric depression differ significantly in respect of gender, residence, living arrangement of the respondents.
