JOB INVOLVEMENT, JOB STRESS AND PHYSICAL HEALTH PROBLEM OF GARMENT WORKERS IN CHATTOGRAM DISTRICT

Abstract

: The motive of the present study was to find out the job involvement, job stress and physical health problem of garment workers. The samples consisted of 306 garment workers of 18 to 35 years were used for the present study where the number of males and females were equal. Adapted Bangla version of job involvement (Rahman, 2003), job stress (Sorcar & Rahaman, 1989) and physical health (Ahmed & Islam, 2015) scales were used for collecting data of the participants. Mean, standard deviation (SD), Pearson product-moment correlation and Two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to analyze the obtained data. The results of the present study indicated that age had a significant effect on job involvement but in a garment, sectors had no significant effect on job involvement. The research also showed that there was a significant effect on job stress according to age levels. It was found that age had a significant effect on physical health by different age levels. Significant effect of age and type of garment sectors were also found on physical health. The findings of the study also indicated that job involvement was negatively correlated with job stress and positively correlated with physical health problems. On the other hand job stress was also negatively correlated with the physical health problem.
