NESTING BEHAVIOUR OF THE INDIAN PARADISE FLYCATCHERS (TERPSIPHONE PARADISI L.) AT THE RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY CAMPUS, BANGLADESH

AbstractIndian Paradise Flycatcher, Terpsiphone paradise is one of the beautiful brirds. The species has been reported as an uncommon resident and summer visitor of certain areas of Bangladesh including Rajshahi University campus of Rajshahi district. Every year the bird used to come to Rajshahi University campus and the campus is one of the breeding sites of the flycatcher. There two forms of male Indian Paradise flycatcher, one rufous and the other is albino. The breeding season of Indian Paradise Flycatchers recorded as from April to August. This bird prefers building nest on often medium and high height trees. The nest is a neat deep cup-shaped. The female lays 3-4 pinkish eggs in one clutch.
