AbstractThe present study aimed to examine the perceived stress and coping strategies of Rajshahi University students. A total of 200 (100 males and 100 females) undergraduate students were purposively selected for the study from the Biological Science faculty of Rajshahi University. The Bengali version of the Perceived Stress Scale (Joarder and Khan 2015) and Coping Scale (Huque 2004) were used to investigate the perceived stress and coping strategies of the participants. The obtained data were analyzed using t-test and Pearson Product Moment Correlation. The results revealed that female students experienced more perceived stress than male students. It was also found that females used more emotion-focused coping strategies than males, whereas males used more problem-focused coping strategies than their female counterparts. Perceived stress was negatively related to problem-focused coping strategies, whereas there was a positive relationship between perceived stress and emotion-focused coping strategies.
