PERCEPTION OF INTER-PARENTAL CONFLICT OF FEMALE ADOLESCENTS AS FUNTION OF THEIR BIRTH ORDER, SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS AND RESIDENCEIAL BACKGROUND

Abstract

The present study was conducted to investigate perceived inter-parental conflict of female adolescents as function of their birth order, socio-economic status and residential background. A total of 109 female students were selected randomly from different high school of Jamalpur District, Bangladesh. The inter-parental conflict of female adolescents was measured by administering a translated Bangla version (Afrin and Barman, 2023) of Children’s Perception of Inter-parental Conflict scale which was originally developed byGrych et al., (1992).The data were analyzed using One-way ANOVA and t-test. Results stated that perceived parental conflict of female adolescents varies significantly (p<0.05) with the variation of socio-economic status. The results also indicated that respondents from lower socio-economic status perceived significantly (p<0.05) more parental conflict than those from higher and middle class. But no significant difference in perceived parental conflict of adolescents was found as function of their birth order and residential background.
