AbstractVaccine hesitancy, one of the major obstacles against vaccination programs, is complex and context-specific that vary across time, place, and vaccines. There are several tools to assess vaccine hesitancy based on different models. The 5C scale is a new tool to assess vaccine hesitancy behaviors developed based on the 5C model (Confidence, complacency, constraints, calculation, and collective responsibility). The present study aimed to assess the psychometric properties of the Bangla version of the 5C scale as there was a scarcity of tools to assess vaccine hesitancy among Bangladeshi people. In this study, the psychometric properties of this scale (n = 715) were assessed to evaluate reliability and validity under both classical test theory (CTT) and modern test theory (IRT) approaches. The item analysis results demonstrated that the Bangla version of the 5C scale had good item discrimination indices in both CTT and IRT. The confirmatory factor analysis results supported the five-factor correlated model in terms of model fits and items’ factor loading. Scale level analysis demonstrated good internal consistency reliability, test-retest reliability, acceptable average variance extracted value, and discrimination power. Overall, the Bangla version of the 5C scale seems psychometrically sound to assess the vaccine hesitancy, confidence or acceptance. This scale would be utilized in further research to evaluate vaccine hesitancy among Bangladeshi people.
