Abstract

The present study aimed to assess the association between anxiety and depression of residential and non-residential students of Chittagong University. The study comprised of 160 respondents selected purposively from different departments of Chittagong University, Chattogram, Bangladesh. The measuring instruments used in this study were the Anxiety scale developed by Deeba and Begum (2004) and the depression scale developed by Uddin & Rahman (2005). Data were analyzed through t-test and Pearson product-moment correlation. The study revealed that the anxiety and depression levels of male students were significantly higher than female students. On the contrary, non-residential students reported higher anxiety as compared to residential students of Chittagong University. A significant positive correlation was found between anxiety and depression levels of Chittagong University students.
