WORK-RELATED FACTORS AS PREDICTORS OF WORK MOTIVATION AMONG SCHOOL TEACHERS

AbstractThe present study aimed to examine the associations of work satisfaction and work stress with the work motivation of school teachers. The sample comprised of a total number of 102 participants collected from different government, non-government, and semi-government schools from Dhaka, Savar, and Narayanganj areas purposive sampling technique was used in collecting data. To carry out the research three Bangla-adapted scales were used namely the Teacher’s Job Satisfaction Scale. Data were analyzed through multiple regression analysis. The results of this study showed that among the dimensions of teachers’ job satisfaction only one dimension was a significant predictor (i.e., security) which explained 6.3% of the variance in work motivation, when only stronger predictor of work stress was behavioral manifestation which explained 9.9% of the variance on work motivation. In addition, findings also reported that work stress was negatively correlated with the age of the school teachers.
